Snow is coming as is Halloween, dangers lurk out there!

So today in Mass and NH we are supposed to get between 2-10 inches of snow! Yes it is only the 29th of October. I do remember trick or treating in the snow when i was younger so I do know it is New England and it can happen, or I can wait 5 minutes ;)

But with a snowfall we are not full ready for, and a dangerous holiday for our pooches and cats let me give you some pointers!

-If your door doesn't open into a fenced in yard, be very careful with your door bolters or other pets who might try to get out, not that it is good at any time, but with snow, cars can't slow down, people in the cars might not be able to see your pet, and the plows are paying attention to removing the snow. As well as people not seeing your pet over the snow or around the snow banks, please be extra diligent about making sure your pet stays inside the fenced yard or on leash!

-Snow means your pooch has more to stand on and can possible get right over your fence! Make sure your fence is clear so they can't just walk out!

-The salt and sand that gets on your pooches feet when you walk them on roads can irritate them (and can get in your bed) I keep unscented baby wipes by my front door as well as a towel to clean and dry off the paws before coming inside!

-HALLOWEEN candy, KEEP IT OUT OF REACH!!!!! I have a very resourceful dog who can open cabinet doors unless they are baby proofed! Make sure your kids don't sneak candy and leave it where your pooch can get it as well!

-If your door is going to keep getting opened for the kids out getting candy, lock your kitties in a room so none get spooked and run out!

Halloween time starts the busy season at my office for making pets vomit up things that they should not have gotten into!

Remember any amount of sugar free gum can really damage your dog, don't let people put there purses down where your dogs nose can find it and get in trouble!

I love this season, even if there is snow, so remember to think so not only you but your furry family can enjoy it as well!

Love ya,
Jessie
