First Blog, New Place

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Pixie Dust Pet's Blog! I am Jessica and I am going to take you on my adventures in Pet care raising my own and working with yours!

I train my dog daily and she teaches me lessons in life, my cats just want me to feed them clean up after them and be there for a place they can snuggle.

My Kids are TJ age 10 and he is driving be crazy in his preteen years going to be 11 in December and boy is he letting me know it. Tay, she is 6 going on 36 all girl yet she is a tomboy and tough.

The pets who let me take care of them, Tinkerbell or DesertWillows Pixie Dust a 4 year old Blue Merle Australian Shepherd, from http://www.desertwillowaussies.com/ (You can't get a better Aussie from anywhere else). Kelty a 10 year old long haired orange boy who I adopted from my work, after his owner couldn't take care of him because he blocks from crystals in his urine. Tigerlily a 2 year old kitten who is probably a Ragdoll, she is my daughters and lets her do anything to her including dress her in doll clothes and walk her around. I also adopted her from my work, she was in a litter of kittens found on someones property abandoned. Then we have Spikey a Cockatiel that again I got at work as he was found flying loose in the town I work in, then we have some Beta's and a 20 gallon fresh water tank in my sons room.

So I have mentioned my work, and you must be wondering where is that? Well I work 38 miles from my house in Waltham MA at Kindness Animal Hospital (like us on facebook!) I have been there since October 2008, and they quickly became my family. I love everyone I work with and what I do. I used to live closer but had to move and would drive even further because the drive is the only thing I don't like. What do I do there? Everything and I am sitting laughing, my job title on my cards is Assistant Office Manager, but we have 3 Vet's and then 8 of us for a very busy practice. I Vet Tech, stock, clean, book appointments, schedule the doctors, take care of the animals, monitor them, deal with the sales people, deal with the staff, deal with everything and I LOVE IT!

We have a sister kennel or doggie daycare, where Tink can not wait to get to every morning! As an animal hospital and I guess I am tooting my own horn here, we are amazing. We are in a very old building and so we have that to deal with, but we have some of the smartest Vet's and best staff, along with being able to do a lot of our work in house, we do use an outside lab when needed. But we are like a family and all work well together and we treat the pets like they are our own, we were just brought cookies from the mom of a dog we euthanized a few weeks ago who was 15 and not doing well, she wrote us a long letter how we all came outside to say goodbye that she was amazed how we all knew her and loved her. Because we do love our clients pets we try to treat them all like they are our own and yes we will cry at euthanasia's.

We try to help with behaviour and to teach our clients how to fix things with out medication, and really listen to what is going on.

I am branching out and with a couple of great friends have started walking dogs, cat/dog house sitting, some boarding.

And I am breaking back into dog competition, so be ready for lots of news, pictures and updates with all the new things happening here!!
